I used his website for years, before IGN or Ziff Davis bought this website was amaizing, bundles with very good games at low cost, the Humble Monthly, all fantastic.
Some time ago i got a warning, i accept it and stop making what i was making. 5 days ago i got mi 3 payment methods declined, contact support to solve it, one agent tries to help gentle:
"Greetings,
Thanks for reaching out to us! Apologies for the continued trouble - reviewing the last two tickets it appears it was manually approved and then resolved, respectively. However what you're indicating appears to be an ongoing issue, so I'll be escalating this to a specialist for further investigation to see if something more permanent can't be figured out as far as solutions. In the meantime if you have any questions, please feel free to let us know."
The next day i got this message from the "specialist":
"Hi there,
Thank you for your patience. There appears to be some suspicious activity associated with this account that directly violates our Terms of Service. Further inquiries regarding this account will not be responded to. I apologize for the inconvenience but I hope you have a nice day."
Suddently, with no explanation right now i can't access my paid content, it's just Steal.
I wanted a refund, they haven't gotten back to me. In short I'm not amused with this.
I don't have to go any further than that because if you scroll down the reviews you'll understand how I feel easy.
Customer Reviews (25)
I have had mixed experience with their customer service. Sometimes they resolved issues quickly and politely. However, they do not always provide detail about region restrictions of their games. I voiced concerns about that, as I was living in a foreign country, and was told that they would assist me if I encountered issues. However, when those problems did arise, customer service told me that I had been flagged as a key reseller and they wouldn't help me. However, no warnings or notifications were sent and no proof that I was violation their policy was ever given (their terms of service allowed gifting keys to friends, which is what I had done). In the end, I have a collection of unusable keys and wasted money. I would still buy from them if it is a good deal but I no longer regularly make purchases.
I feel that the monthly subscription games I've been getting are mostly "alright" if not "meh". On the whole, their prices are no better or worse than other key vendors. One thing I do like is that the whole process of gifting keys runs very smoothly.
Old HB is was something awesome.. now no. 1/5.. only sorrry.
remember the old days? remember that EA bundle with all those AAA games for next to nothing? remember humble monthly? it wasnt even broke but they "fixed" it anyway.
its nowhere near as good as it used to be, good bundles are few and far between unless you like garbage software or ebooks/comics
i cancelled my subscription and they sent me an email, begging me to sign up again at a reduced cost of 4.44 for 6 months........i did, but it wasnt even worth that so i cancelled it again
these bundle sites just aint what they used to be, they had their day...........when they first popped up onto the scene all the devs wanted to get onboard to spread their games to new users but now the novelty has worn off its mainly just poor indie titles with the very occasional half decent game thrown in. if a graph were made to show the decline in quality it would be a downwards arrow, so would value.............price on the other hand has shot through the roof
I have to join the whine-wagon about banned accounts / rejected orders.
I've been a customer for about 8 years, and during this time I've been paying from the same PayPal account and I've spent on HB around $800. And suddenly, out of nowhere, they start asking for my phone number to "verify my payment details".
Seriously? I've been using the same payment account for 8 years, and suddenly you have trouble verifying it? Are you *bleep*ing kidding me?
But the fun part is: my first order with phone verification (last week) did go through. Then today, again phone verification for my new order. But this time, they rejected it.
I think I'm done with this *bleep*. I was already on the edge with the charity slider removal, now that does it. If they don't want to, as the meme says, "shut up and take my money", I guess I'll just get richer and play less.
Due to setup of their deals and eligibility for Humble Choice, ended up paying full price for a basic membership, and paying for a discount premium membership for the same month. After a protracted discussion with support trying to explain the issue, I ended up giving up and just cancelling Humble Choice membership. I have the games, but the support experience was among the most frustrating I have ever had.
Avoid Humble Bundle, now they are thief.
They will close your account and keep the keys that you bought for no reasons and at will.
I've been using Humble for a few years now. I was sick for a long time and was given a Humble Monthly subscription to help with being stuck at home. Every month, for 12 dollars, I was getting a bunch of games. I might only enjoy 2-3 of them, but that's still great value for games that would normally cost a lot more.
I am still getting the Humble Choice classic sub now. 12 games for 12 dollars every month. I pause more often now because I have a lot of games in my Steam library that haven't been played yet.
Oh and a percentage goes to a charity every month. =)
They have some good deals in their store during the sales as well, and I've often bought a key from Humble, that was cheaper than the Steam sale.
Since I've been using their site for a long time, I have ran into issues with keys on more than one occasion. I've found their customer support to be very nice and helpful, and issues have been resolved within a day or two. I honestly have nothing but praise for their support team.
Due warning: If you're a subscriber, (or buy a charity bundle) don't trade your gift links on grey market sites. Because the games are sold cheaply in aid of charity, their subscriber agreement states that they must be activated on your account or gifted to a friend. They have banned some accounts that were caught selling on the grey market or trading to resellers. Just something to be aware of.
Being forced to link my account wiht Steam is a hassle
